Knitting wool

My lambs wool is spun for me by The Natural Fibre Company. Before sending it to them for spinning, I sort it into three shades of grey, very light silvery grey, a steely mid grey and very dark almost black.

The wool ranges in price:

– Skeins of DK approx. 100gms and 220m long from £10

– 4 ply Balls approx. 100gms and 330m long from £10

– I also have a new range in mid and light grey of a chunky single weight(6ysw) that I have had plied 2fold,3fold and 4fold it is also £10 for 100gm skein. The 3 and 4 fold are what I use for knitting and felting, but it knits up beautifully softly.

I had a great boost to my wool sales when I was featured on the Knit British blog by lovely Susan Hobkirk, who came along to one of our village ‘knitwits’ gatherings. I’m never sure about exporting the wool but I have got an occasional ‘mule’ who will take wool to the States for me a couple of times a year.

Susan’s friend, the truly amazing Patti, has knitted these beautiful traditional shawls with the 4ply wool. You can find her products on Etsy – PattiLaceKnit.
